LearningMole was founded in 2017 by Michelle Connolly in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Connolly, who holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours) from Stranmillis University College, Queen's University Belfast, had spent over 16 years as a primary school teacher in the United Kingdom before founding the platform. Her teaching career also included two years at an international school in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and experience teaching in Egypt.
The platform was created after Connolly identified a gap in accessible educational support for parents. Teaching methods in UK primary schools — particularly in mathematics and systematic synthetic phonics — had evolved significantly, and parents frequently lacked the resources to support their children effectively at home.
