Kanguru Medya (formerly Kanguru Yapım) was founded by Volkan Ongi in March 2020.

Volkan Ongi has over 12 years of experience in the Turkish TV and film industry. He has gathered expertise in various fields such as executive production, co-production services, and casting direction under one roof.

Kanguru Media launched its first international project in 2021 in partnership with the Uzbekistan Ministry of Culture. The film Evrilish, directed by Yalkin Tuychiev, who has been nominated twice for the Oscars, received the Best Film award at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival. Kanguru Media is the first Turkish production company to receive this honor.

Under the slogan "New Generation Media," Volkan Ongi introduced a new approach to the industry by establishing a digital marketing department. This allowed the company to sell projects to digital platforms and play an active role in social media marketing through its subsidiary, Kanguru Marketing.
