Dr Bhuvan Nagpal
Dr. Bhuvan Nagpal (born 23 August 1988) is an Indian oral and maxillofacial pathologist, clinical biochemist, and medico-legal expert. He is known for his work in diagnostic pathology, his advocacy for the rights and recognition of oral pathologists in India, and his role in establishing the Practicing Oral Pathologists and Microbiologists Association (POPMA).
Early Life and Background
Dr. Bhuvan Nagpal was born in Hisar, Haryana, and completed his early education in Fatehabad. He passed his matriculation and higher secondary from New Yashoda Public School, Hisar, affiliated with CBSE. Coming from a Punjabi Khatri family, his father served as Senior Manager in Punjab National Bank and his mother was an Associate Professor and HOD in Home Science at a government-aided college. He has two sisters, one a dental surgeon with a postgraduate degree in Microbiology, and the other a practicing gynecologist. He is married to a doctorate in Bio-nanotechnology who works as an Assistant Professor at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala.

Career
Dr. Nagpal began his professional career with a leading diagnostic centre in Hisar, serving as Consultant Oral Pathologist, Clinical Biochemist, and Chief Administrative Officer. He has also worked as a Project Manager for the establishment of diagnostic centers across Haryana.
Later, he established his own NABL-accredited medical laboratory in Tohana, where he currently serves as Laboratory Director and Senior Consultant. He is notified by the Government of India and approved by NABL as an authorized signatory for laboratory reports.
Dr. Nagpal has contributed significantly to the recognition of MDS (Oral Pathology) as an eligible qualification for signatory rights on lab reports. He played a pivotal role in influencing national policy, with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recognizing Oral Pathologists' rights under Dental Council of India regulations.
Advocacy and Associations
Dr. Nagpal is the founder and first president of the Practicing Oral Pathologists and Microbiologists Association (POPMA), a national body working for the welfare of practicing oral pathologists. He is also the Director of the Academy of Oral Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (AOPLM), the academic wing of POPMA.
Publications and Contributions
He has published numerous research papers in national and international journals and contributed chapters in several textbooks. Dr. Nagpal is on the editorial and reviewer board of over 15 journals and serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry (JOCPD).
He has delivered keynote addresses in various seminars and conferences and is active in promoting oral pathology through education, diagnostics, and public awareness.
