A Life Dedicated to Social Service, Community Leadership and Public Work

Manoj Kumar Jain, a Delhi-based social worker, community organiser and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, has spent more than three decades working across politics, public welfare, disaster relief and cultural outreach. As a nominated councillor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (Central Zone) and founder of Sahyog Delhi, his journey reflects a combination of political engagement, social responsibility and deep-rooted commitment to Jain values.

Born on 23 February 1969 in Delhi, Jain grew up in an environment steeped in nationalism, discipline and public service. His father, Mahesh Kumar Jain, a contributor to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and founder of the wallpaper enterprise Ultrawalls, exposed him early to organisational work and community mobilisation. These formative influences would later shape his public identity as a social worker and politician focused on grassroots issues, compassion and civic participation.

Early Life and Influences

Raised in a family driven by faith, service and cultural values, Manoj Kumar Jain developed a keen interest in public work while still in school. He often accompanied elders to political rallies, public meetings and election campaigns, sometimes taking leave from school to participate in events. These hands-on experiences gave him a close understanding of how public opinion is shaped and how communities respond to local challenges.

His early exposure to RSS activities through his father introduced him to the organisational discipline, teamwork and ideological grounding that would later support his work in both politics and social service. Although he completed his formal education only up to the Intermediate level, his learning continued through practical engagement in business, civic activities and leadership roles.

Family and Personal Life

On 23 January 1992, Manoj Kumar Jain married Deepali Jain, daughter of senior advocate and prominent Congress leader Shri Ram Narayan Gupta, who also served as a metropolitan councillor in Delhi. The marriage connected him to a family with its own long-standing contributions to civic and political life.

The couple is blessed with three daughters, all married and settled in respected families in Delhi. Friends and associates often describe Jain as someone who balances public responsibilities with strong family values, maintaining humility and personal warmth despite the demands of community work.

Entry into Public Life

Manoj Kumar Jain’s formal entry into electoral politics came with the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2003, he contested the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections from the Minto Road constituency, becoming one of the youngest BJP candidates of that election cycle. Although he did not win, the campaign strengthened his engagement with local communities and affirmed his belief that politics was deeply connected to social responsibility.

Over the years, he remained active in the Delhi BJP organisation, participating in outreach programmes, awareness drives and public issue campaigns. His leadership style—practical, field-driven and accessible—earned him recognition within the party as someone who prefers working on the ground rather than seeking symbolic positions.

His work later led to his nomination as a Councillor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (Central Zone), where he has been involved in issues such as sanitation, cleanliness of public spaces, women’s public toilets, health concerns and municipal support for vulnerable groups.

Alongside publicA Parallel Career in Business work, Jain has built a career in the wallpaper manufacturing and import industry, following in the footsteps of his father’s enterprise. His experience as a businessman has shaped his understanding of the challenges faced by small and medium enterprises, workers, and families dependent on trade for livelihood.

This awareness influences his approach to social work. Whether designing relief programmes, providing aid to families in crisis or supporting youth employment, he draws on his business background to create solutions that are practical, sustainable and sensitive to economic realities.

Founding of Sahyog Delhi

A major turning point in his public journey came in 2013, when he founded Sahyog Delhi, an organisation committed to helping underprivileged citizens through direct assistance, volunteer networks and targeted relief. As Founder and National President, Jain shaped Sahyog Delhi into a platform known for accountability, responsiveness and hands-on service.

Under his leadership, Sahyog Delhi has undertaken several key initiatives:

  • Distribution of food and ration to families facing economic hardship
  • Daily supply of essentials to nearly 1,200 families during the COVID-19 lockdown
  • Distribution of more than 6,500 doses of Arsenic Album 30 during the pandemic
  • Support for education, healthcare and emergency relief
  • Assistance to families affected by natural calamities and local disasters

During the COVID-19 crisis (2020–2021), the organisation’s large-scale operations supported thousands of families, earning widespread appreciation from local communities.

Involvement with Tarun Mitra Parishad

Manoj Kumar Jain has also played a long-standing role in Tarun Mitra Parishad, an organisation founded in 1975 to serve marginalised communities. He has served three terms as its President and currently functions as General Secretary.

Through Tarun Mitra Parishad, he has been involved in initiatives such as:

  • Providing tricycles to people with physical disabilities
  • Donating sewing machines to economically weaker women
  • Offering educational support to students from low-income families
  • Mobilising relief for natural disaster victims, including during the Uttarakhand tragedy and the Gujarat earthquake

These programmes highlight his commitment to sustainable social upliftment, especially for those on the margins of society.

Shraddha Sadan, Hastinapur

In Hastinapur, Uttar Pradesh, Jain is associated with Shraddha Sadan, an old-age home built to offer shelter, care and dignity to senior citizens. The facility includes around 42 rooms and provides an environment focused on physical well-being, emotional comfort and moral support. His involvement in this initiative reflects his concern for vulnerable groups beyond urban boundaries.

Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Work

Manoj Kumar Jain has been consistently active in relief efforts across the country. After the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, he helped raise funds in Delhi and contributed to the construction of homes for affected families.

From earthquakes and droughts to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jain has led teams in distributing relief materials, organising community kitchens and ensuring timely access to essential resources for distressed families.

Campaigns for Urban Cleanliness and Public Health

Inspired by the Swachh Bharat Mission, Jain has been vocal about sanitation and cleanliness in Delhi. His initiatives focus on practical, ground-level improvements, including:

  • Surveys on the conditions of public toilets across Delhi
  • Campaigns for improving women’s toilets, highlighting safety and hygiene issues
  • Public awareness under the slogan #CleanDelhiToilets
  • Activities against single-use plastic and for better waste management

He has also worked on cleaning stretches of the Yamuna backwaters from Rajghat to Vijay Ghat, combining environmental, civic and public awareness objectives.

Public Events and Civic Campaigns

One of his widely recognised public engagements was the Namo Tea Stall event in 2014, organised at Ashoka Road in Delhi to celebrate the national election victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event reportedly served tea to more than 30,000 people and included a “Good Wishes Wall” for citizens and party workers.

In 2024, he submitted a formal representation to the Union Minister for Communications on the rising problem of spam and telemarketing calls affecting citizens, particularly senior citizens. Following public concern and such representations, new TRAI guidelines came into effect on 1 September 2024, strengthening regulation over unsolicited calls.

Religious and Cultural Leadership

As a Director of the Bhagwan Mahavir Deshna Foundation, Jain promotes Jain philosophy and spiritual teachings. In 2025, the Foundation produced the devotional film Mera Namokar, featuring former President of India Ram Nath Kovind and his family chanting the Namokar Mantra. The film received national media attention, marking a significant moment for the Jain community and devotional arts.

He is also associated with the Akhil Bharatvarshiya Digambar Jain Parishad, where he has served as General Secretary for the Delhi unit. In this capacity, he has organised multiple large-scale religious conferences, interacted with Jain temples across regions, and worked to bring the messages of Lord Mahavir to wider audiences.

His role in organising community introduction conferences has supported families in finding matrimonial alliances while strengthening social networks.

Media Presence

Jain’s work has been covered by various news portals and digital platforms, especially in relation to religious-cultural initiatives and social campaigns. Major coverage has highlighted:

  • The devotional film Mera Namokar and its national significance
  • Brand stories and reports on Jain community events
  • His reflections on Diwali, Ram Temple celebrations and cultural harmony

These stories present him as a bridge between social work, religious culture and civic engagement.

Philosophy and Outlook

At the core of Manoj Kumar Jain’s public life is the belief that service is the greatest form of leadership. He often emphasises that positions and titles matter less than the impact one leaves on society. His long-term goal is to inspire citizens—especially the youth—to participate in community work and nation-building.

He envisions a clean, strong and compassionate India shaped by collective responsibility, spirituality and civic consciousness.
