Sharon MacIvor
Dr. Sharon MacIvor (also referred to as Sharon MacIvor DVM) (born August 27, 1958) is a highly accomplished American veterinarian, entrepreneur, and real estate professional. She is best known as the co-founder of Iron Paws, a premium pet wellness company that produces a human-grade, veterinarian-formulated superfood supplement for dogs. With a veterinary career spanning more than 36 years, Dr. MacIvor has built a reputation for her expertise in internal medicine, emergency care, and pet longevity. She is also the founder of Vetcalls LLC, a concierge telemedicine platform serving pet owners with remote veterinary support.
Early Life and Education
Born in Miami, Florida, Dr. MacIvor pursued a Bachelor’s degree from Barry University, graduating in 1982. She later earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 1988. Her academic credentials also include specialized training in Embryological Transfer and Artificial Insemination from the University of Guelph in 1999, and AAHA-certified CO₂ laser surgical training completed in 2011.
Professional Background
Dr. MacIvor has worked in numerous animal hospitals across South Florida, including providing relief services throughout Miami-Dade. She eventually opened her own practice, Dadeland Animal Hospital, where she honed her clinical and surgical skills.
In 2025, she launched Iron Paws as co-founder and lead formulator, introducing a daily supplement for dogs packed with 19 active superfood ingredients. Developed to enhance digestion, mobility, skin health, and overall vitality, the supplement reflects her holistic and science-backed approach to animal care. Manufactured in an FDA-registered facility, Iron Paws is also committed to giving back—donating a portion of proceeds to support shelter dogs.
In addition, Dr. MacIvor runs Vetcalls LLC, offering concierge veterinary consultations to pet owners seeking accessible and expert guidance.
Her leadership roles in the veterinary field are extensive: she served as Medical Director for the Greater South Florida Humane Society (2014–2018), held a board seat at the South Florida Veterinary Medical Association (2012–2018), and served on its Executive Committee from 2008 to 2012. She was also a board member at Zoo Miami.
She maintains active affiliations with the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association, Cornell Feline Health Center, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and both the Florida and South Florida Veterinary Medical Associations.
Dr. MacIvor also holds a real estate license and is a Licensed Associate Broker with Vision Realty LLC, working in the Miami–Fort Lauderdale area since 2016.
