Ekansh (born July 28, 2005) is an Indian experimental ambient and electronic music artist, producer, and web developer. He is known for his dark, atmospheric sound and short-format experimental EPs. He has released several self-produced projects under his own name as well as the alias Ballscord. Ekansh also develops independent web projects, including the retro-style chat platform TinChat.
Early Life
Ekansh was born in India in 2005. He began making music in 2019, initially sharing lo-fi hip-hop tracks under the alias Wood on SoundCloud. As his style matured, he explored vaporwave before evolving into ambient and experimental electronic music under the name Ekansh.
Career
In 2023, he launched the "Ekansh" project publicly, beginning a new chapter with immersive, ambient tracks. His 2024 EP Nightmare received underground attention for its nostalgic and melancholic tone. Other notable works include Echoes of the Past, Backrooms, and Desolate. Ekansh is also known for surreal meme-inspired tracks under his persona Ballscord, active on Discord and social spaces.
In addition to his music, he is the developer of TinChat, a web-based retro chatroom platform designed in homage to early internet culture.
Musical Style and Influences
Ekansh blends ambient textures with electronic experimentation. His tracks often explore themes of nostalgia, dream states, isolation, and liminality. His work is inspired by genres such as vaporwave, dreampunk, and sleepcore, often drawing comparisons to digital surrealism.
