Early Life and Education
Ben C. Lee, also known as Ben Lee, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He attended Loyola Marymount University, where he pursued coursework toward a Bachelor of Science in Communications. During his college years, Lee co-founded Attack Sheets, a bar exam preparation tool that quickly gained traction, leading to his first million-dollar venture by the age of 20.
Career
Neon Roots (2011–2018)
In 2011, Lee co-founded Neon Roots, a boutique software consultancy and venture studio that was initially bootstrapped and quickly gained recognition for its expertise in product development, branding, and emerging technologies such as augmented reality. Under Lee’s leadership, the company attracted high-profile clients, including Snoop Dogg, Tony Robbins, and several Fortune 500 companies, establishing itself as a trusted partner in the tech and entertainment industries. One of Lee’s most significant contributions was the development of a proprietary design sprint methodology, which revolutionized the app development process by significantly reducing time-to-market and saving clients substantial development costs. Recognizing the potential for scalability, he pioneered a subscription-based design sprint service that became the company’s primary revenue driver. As part of his expansion strategy, Lee extended Neon Roots’ operations internationally by launching a division in Uruguay, which later played a crucial role in the company’s growth. In 2018, he successfully orchestrated a merger between Neon Roots and Top Tier Labs, forming Rootstrap, a multinational digital agency that further accelerated the company’s growth and influence in the tech space.
Rootstrap (2018–2020)
As co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), Lee was instrumental in scaling Rootstrap into a multi-national, multi-million-dollar brand, driving significant revenue growth and expanding its global presence. Following the merger, he led the company’s rapid financial expansion, increasing revenue from $3 million to $10 million within two years. His leadership in sales was pivotal, personally securing 75% of Rootstrap’s deals and landing major enterprise clients such as Google, TikTok, and MasterClass. In addition to driving revenue, Lee focused on building a highly efficient and scalable workforce, establishing a remote-first team of over 200 employees across five countries, including the United States, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, and Colombia. His ability to create a strong, globally connected team contributed to Rootstrap’s sustained success and positioned it as a leader in the software development industry. After achieving these milestones, Lee successfully exited Rootstrap in 2020, transitioning his focus to new ventures in the wellness and investment sectors.
Neon Roots Relaunch & Ben Lee Ventures (2020–present)
Following his exit from Rootstrap, Lee relaunched Neon Roots as a venture studio, shifting its focus toward executive coaching, sales consulting, and strategic investment. Through Neon Roots, he began mentoring startup founders and tech entrepreneurs, providing them with the tools and strategies needed to scale their businesses efficiently. His expertise in sales and growth consulting allowed him to help service-based companies optimize their revenue streams and expand their market presence. Simultaneously, Lee established Ben Lee Ventures, an umbrella organization encompassing his various business initiatives. This included Ben Lee Coaching, a specialized program designed for high-performance entrepreneurs seeking to enhance their leadership and business acumen; Ben Lee Capital, a firm focused on strategic investments and mergers and acquisitions; and Ben Lee’s Inner Circle, an exclusive membership network catering to executives and founders looking to connect, collaborate, and scale their ventures. Through these initiatives, Lee has continued to make a significant impact in the tech and business communities, offering invaluable insights and support to emerging and established entrepreneurs alike.
