David Brautigam (born October 8, 1981, in Palm Springs, California) is an American novelist, screenwriter, and the founder of David Brautigam Entertainment. Brautigam's debut novel, Revenge is a Must (2024), which explores themes of family, loyalty, and vengeance, marks his transition from screenwriting to novel writing.

Early Life and Education

David Brautigam was born in Palm Springs, California, and grew up in Tualatin, Oregon. He was an all-state basketball player at Tualatin High School, graduating in 2000, and later played for Western Oregon University. After his playing career, Brautigam transitioned to coaching, including coaching varsity girls' basketball at Dallas High School and later coaching younger age groups, such as third-grade girls' teams. This shift to coaching younger players, as he described, came with its own set of challenges and rewards.

Career

Brautigam's interest in storytelling began at a young age when he started writing books at the age of nine or ten. His interest in storytelling was sparked early, influenced by a high school friend who later became an actor in Hollywood. This inspired Brautigam to pursue a career in screenwriting and, later, novel writing. However, it wasn't until later in life that his passion for film and storytelling would turn into a career in screenwriting and novel writing. A turning point in his career came after watching a disappointing film in a theater, which inspired him to write his own screenplay. This led to the creation of his debut novel, Revenge is a Must (2024), a crime drama centered around themes of family, crime, and vengeance.

Personal Life

Brautigam resides in Silverton, Oregon, with his wife, Cassie, and their two daughters, Ava and Payton. He remains passionate about sports and coaching, maintaining the "underdog mentality" that he attributes to his athletic background. This mentality continues to fuel his drive and determination in his writing career. In addition to his writing, Brautigam works at a prosthetics company and is a film enthusiast.
