XOi Technologies is an American software company that develops cloud-based field service management platforms. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee|Nashville, Tennessee, the company creates digital tools designed to enhance communication between field service technicians and their organizations.

History

XOi Technologies was founded in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2013 by Aaron Salow.

Salow's background in a working-class family influenced his perspective on skilled trades and manual labor. His early exposure to trades professions through family and community members shaped his understanding of these careers as essential components of the economy.

As founder and CEO, Salow has publicly addressed what he describes as a societal devaluation of skilled trades in favor of traditional four-year degree programs. He has noted that demographic shifts have contributed to Labor shortage|labor shortages]] in skilled trades, citing his own challenges in the manufacturing and modular construction sectors where finding qualified contractors became increasingly difficult.

This experience with skilled labor shortages and communication inefficiencies in field service work informed Salow's vision for developing technology solutions to bridge gaps between service technicians and customers, as well as streamline the service process.

In 2025, following a $230 million funding round with global investment firm KKR, XOi announced its acquisition of San Francisco-based Specifx, marking the company's first acquisition.[1] Specifx, co-founded by Ryan Martineau and Pete Shimkus, provided data enrichment and metadata retrieval platforms for field service equipment. The acquisition was designed to strengthen XOi's technology solutions for field service professionals.

CEO Aaron Salow described the partnership as a step toward advancing sustainability, profitability, and transparency in the evolving field service industry.[2]

XOi operates a cloud-based platform that provides field technicians with digital documentation tools, including video capture, photo documentation, and instructional content. The platform facilitates real-time collaboration between field personnel and remote technical experts. Additional features include reporting capabilities and analytics tools for service operation optimization.[3]

The company's primary product, XOi (formerly XOi Vision), is a mobile application that enables technicians to collect and document job site data, including equipment information and work progress documentation. The platform allows both field technicians and back-office personnel to access this data for troubleshooting and business development purposes.

Market and Clientele

XOi Technologies serves multiple industries within the field service sector, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, electrical services, and commercial kitchen equipment maintenance. The company's client base spans from small family-owned service businesses to large Multinational corporation|multinational corporations.

Recognition

In 2023, Mechanical Hub reported that XOi had been named to the Inc. (magazine)|Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies for the fourth time, highlighting its continued growth and impact in the field service technology space.[4]
