As founder and CEO, Salow has publicly addressed what he describes as a societal devaluation of skilled trades in favor of traditional four-year degree programs. In 2025, following a $230 million funding round with global investment firm KKR, XOi announced its acquisition of San Francisco-based Specifx, marking the company's first acquisition. Specifx, co-founded by Ryan Martineau and Pete Shimkus, provided data enrichment and metadata retrieval platforms for field service equipment. The acquisition was designed to strengthen XOi's technology solutions for field service professionals.
