João Maria Botelho (born 19 November 2001) is a Portuguese jurist, entrepreneur author and sustainability expert working in the fields of environmental, social and governance (ESG), public policy and climate regulation. He is the founder of the international youth-led platform Generation Resonance and has been featured in Forbes Portugal as part of its 30 Under 30 selection, as well as in multiple national media outlets for his work on sustainability and economic governance.[1]

Education

Botelho holds a law degree (LL.B) from NOVA School of Law. His academic work focused on sustainability, climate policy and corporate governance.[2]

Career

Botelho works on legal and regulatory issues related to sustainability, ESG frameworks and climate policy. His analysis of regulatory developments and the role of business in the sustainability transition has been featured in Portuguese media, including Jornal Económico and Jornal de Negócios.[3][4]

He has also been profiled in national press for his participation in public debates on sustainability and governance, including Diário de Notícias.[5]

Public engagement

Botelho is the founder of Generation Resonance, a youth-led platform focused on sustainability literacy, civic participation and informed political dialogue. The initiative has been featured by Forbes Portugal for its role in promoting youth engagement in sustainability and social innovation.[6]

He is a European Climate Pact Ambassador, an initiative of the European Commission aimed at promoting climate awareness and public engagement.[7]
