Abubakar Shehu Idris (born July 22, 1997), an indigene of Kaduna North, Kaduna State, is a Nigerian entrepreneur, software developer and startup investor. He is best known as the co-founder and CEO of Stonetech[1], a technology and innovation organization supporting innovation and impact-driven initiatives across Africa.[2]

Early life and education

Abubakar was born in Kaduna, where he spent most part of his early life. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Kaduna State University in 2019. He furthered his education with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Entrepreneurship. Abubakar also holds professional certifications in Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Data Science.

Career

Stonetech

Abubakar co-founded Stonetech in 2023, an organization that operates at the intersection of digital innovation and social impact. The platform collaborates with founders, creatives, and institutions to design and scale sustainable solutions in underserved regions. In January 2026, the organization's educational branch (Stonetech Academy), received global accreditation from the American Council for Training and Development (ACTD), a move intended to standardize tech skills training for African youth.[3]

Since its launch, Stonetech has partnered with state governments in Northern Nigeria and other private individuals in an effort to grow the tech community in the region.
