John M. Laviter
John Laviter is an American entrepreneur and executive known as the founder of Northpoint Asset Management, Inc.[1] During his tenure the company grew significantly, managing over $5 billion in real-estate assets and operating 40+ offices across the U.S.[2] He is also a lead partner in a $2 billion real-estate investment trust (REIT) based in Salt Lake City, Utah, [3]
Early life and education
Laviter received a bachelor’s degree in marketing and advertising communications from Brigham Young University in 2004, graduating with academic honours. In 2010, he obtained an MBA from the International School of Management (Paris) and later completed the OPM programme at Harvard Business School.[4]
Career
Laviter began his career as a research intern at FMV Opinions, Inc. in 2004, followed by roles as financial analyst and later asset manager at Kunz Investments.[5]
In 2006, Laviter founded Northpoint Asset Management, a real-estate investment and property-management company headquartered in Utah. Under his leadership, the firm expanded to manage over $5 billion in assets, with more than 40 office locations in the U.S.[6]
Laviter has spoken publicly on real-estate market trends, including as a panelist discussing deflation risks at an IMN conference in 2024.[7]
The company appeared multiple times on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies.[8][9]
In December 2023, Laviter stepped down as CEO and sold his ownership in Northpoint to private-equity firm LP First Capital.[10][11]
Laviter also served on the Board of Trustees at Southern Virginia University from 2020 to 2024.[12]
