Tan Sri Ngai Koh Peng (born 5 February 1985, Selangor, Malaysia) is a Malaysian businessman known for his contributions to the gaming and hospitality industries in Southeast Asia. He is the founder of the 96Ace Group, a Malaysia-based entertainment and leisure corporation.[1] Ngai has been noted for his role in the expansion of casino and resort ventures in the region and for his recognition as Tan Sri by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia for his business and social contributions.[2][3]

Early life and education

Ngai Koh Peng was born on 5 February 1985 in Sekinchan, Selangor. His father worked as a fisherman, while his mother operated a small café. He pursued higher education at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, where he studied business administration.[4][5]

Career

After completing his studies, Ngai Koh Peng returned to Malaysia and founded 96Ace Group, regarded as one of the pioneering enterprises in Malaysia’s gaming sector.[6] His leadership in developing the company’s operations and technology-driven approach earned him recognition in the Malaysian Gaming Hall of Fame.[7]

In 2022, Ngai was mentioned in connection with regional gaming developments following the Macau government’s new casino licensing agreements, which collectively involved an investment commitment of MOP 65.5 billion (approximately USD 8.1 billion) by six major casino operators over ten years. Although Ngai was not a direct signatory in the Macau licensing process, international media noted his company’s emerging interest in cross-border leisure projects during the same period.[8]

He has also been acknowledged by major Malaysian conglomerates, including Genting Group and Berjaya Corporation Berhad, for his contributions to the industry.[9]

Beyond gaming, Koh Peng has diversified his business interests into various industries such as Internet technology, energy, life sciences and biotechnology, food and beverage, and plantation management, including palm oil, rubber, and tea estates.[10][11]

Ngai Koh Peng was awarded the honorific title “Tan Sri” by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for his contributions to business development and social initiatives in Malaysia.[12][13]
