Cui Xiao Gang

Cui Xiao Gang (born August 15, 1980) is a Chinese sculptor who specializes in marble carving. He is based in Quyang, Hebei Province, a region known for its historical stone carving tradition.[1]

Early life

Cui was born in Quyang, Hebei, on August 15, 1980. He began learning sculpture during childhood, receiving informal training from his father and uncle, both practitioners of stone carving. He later developed skills in drawing and carving, focusing particularly on techniques involving marble.

Work and technique

Cui's artistic practice is centered on the use of marble, exploring its natural characteristics such as texture, color, and hardness. His approach combines both traditional and modern carving methods, and he often selects stone based on its suitability for specific visual or technical outcomes.

Notable works

Cui has produced several sculptures installed at the headquarters of Huawei in Shenzhen, China, including a standing female figure and a reclining figure in a hammock. He has also contributed to the First Garden in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea,[2] a large cultural complex featuring themed gardens and public art installations.[1][3][4]

Additional works attributed to Cui include commissioned sculptures for the Parrocchia di Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo in Avellino, Italy.[5] His sculptures are scheduled to be featured at the Giardino Ducale Nicola e Luigi Sorricchio in Atri, Italy.[1]

Personal life

Cui continues to live and work in Quyang, and has been active in the field of sculpture for over two decades.[1]
