Biography

Dr. Umair Haroon is a Pakistani producer, director, author, and forensic scientist. He is recognized for producing and directing over 200 short films and documentaries on culture, science, and history, and for introducing Pakistan’s first forensic science-based investigative TV series. He is a member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmy Awards).

Early Life and Education

Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Haroon earned his MBBS from Sindh Medical College (2006) and completed a Fellowship in forensic medicine from Dow University of Health Sciences (2015). He became the first Pakistani to qualify as a Diplomate of the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators and completed his Master’s in Public Health (MSPH) from SZABIST. He has also trained in forensic biology, quality assurance, and media leadership in Australia, UK, USA, and Pakistan.

Career

Haroon started as a forensic consultant, medical officer, and educator, contributing to Sindh Police training programs and forensic manuals. He has worked on international projects including GIZ and the British High Commission’s CAPRI initiative.

In media, he has produced and directed more than 200 short films and documentaries on ethics, history, culture, and science, with notable works including *Sindh Meri Jaan*, *Jinnah Tum Durust Thay*, and *Tareekh Kay Musafir*. He hosted and produced *Kari se Hath Kari*, Pakistan’s first forensic science-based investigative TV series on Express News.
