Joseph Lento
Joseph Lento (born on August 22, 1977, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a nationally recognized American attorney and founder of the Lento Law Firm.[1][2] Known for his unwavering commitment to justice and client advocacy, Lento has built a reputation as a fierce legal defender who represents clients across the country in matters involving student rights, professional license defense, and complex institutional disputes.[3][4]
Early Life and Education
Lento was the first in his family to pursue higher education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business from Villanova University, followed by a Juris Doctor from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.[5] While at Temple, he was awarded the Honorable Nicholas A. Cipriani Scholarship for his academic excellence and commitment to public service.[6][7]
Career
Founding the Lento Law Firm
After graduating in 2008, Lento established his own law firm in Philadelphia, focusing initially on criminal defense.[8] His fearless advocacy and unorthodox courtroom strategies, such as mobilizing dozens of supporters to show solidarity with clients, quickly distinguished him from his peers.[9] His practice soon expanded nationally, evolving into a multi-state law firm with a focus on student rights, education issues, Title IX defense, and professional license defense. [10][11]
National Legal Advocacy
The Lento Law Firm has grown into a nationwide legal team with nearly 50 members, handling a broad range of cases across education law and professional regulation.[12] Lento is widely known for taking on cases where clients have been falsely or unfairly accused—cases often ignored by other attorneys.[13][14] His work has helped shape how institutions handle education issues, Title IX proceedings, academic discipline, and due process.[15][16][17]
Challenges and Legal Battle
In 2024, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court imposed a suspension on Lento's license in that state. Lento has forcefully rejected the findings of the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board and appealed the matter to the United States Supreme Court.[18] He has maintained, both publicly and legally, that the disciplinary action was based on a misrepresentation of the facts and a flawed process.[19][20][21]
Importantly, Lento remains a licensed attorney in other states and continues to practice law nationwide. He has not backed down in the face of adversity and remains steadfast in his commitment to his clients.[22][23][24]
Official Position and Public Statement
Lento and his firm have made it clear: this is not a story of wrongdoing—it is a story of standing firm in the face of injustice. His legal team continues to fight to reverse what they see as a wrongful suspension, and he refuses to accept any narrative that implies guilt or professional misconduct.
The firm’s official stance is:
“Do you face injustice?
We know injustice is real. The gross misrepresentation of the truth which unjustly took place in Pennsylvania has been appealed by Attorney Lento to the United States Supreme Court and will continue to be fought. Attorney Lento and the Lento Law team fight the good fight all day every day for clients nationwide who face unjust challenges in life, and we most certainly will fight the good fight against any injustice and against those who distort the truth and what is right.”
Ongoing Legal Work
Despite the current legal battle in Pennsylvania, Attorney Lento continues to lead active legal efforts on behalf of clients across the country. He represents and advises on matters of student rights, professional licensing, institutional discipline, and civil defense. His national practice remains vibrant, and his firm continues to deliver results for those who have been falsely accused or face disproportionate institutional actions.[25][26]
Philosophy and Legacy
Lento's motto, "Fighting the good fight," defines his approach to law. He believes that no individual should be left to face institutional or governmental injustice alone. His firm stands as a national symbol of legal tenacity, and Lento himself is a testament to the power of never backing down when the truth is on your side.[27]
