Yuriy Naiznanku

Yuriy Naiznanku is a Russian dancer, teacher, musician, composer, and blogger. Founder of the Dancer’s Growth project and a resident of the Center for New Media. He specializes in street dance styles (especially Popping, Waving, Animation) and partner social dances (Kizomba, Tarraxo, Hustle, and others). He is also known as a composer and multi-instrumentalist performing original instrumental music.

Biography

Born in Moscow into an intellectual family. His mother is a historian and music theorist (graduate of Moscow State University and Tchaikovsky Conservatory); his father was a prominent theoretical physicist who worked at MSU all his life. He completed general education school with honors at the age of 14 while also attending a music school affiliated with the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He later earned a higher musical-theatrical degree. In his youth, he also pursued track and field athletics at a professional level.

He began his dance career at age 25 with the partner dance Hustle. Within a few years, he started teaching partner social dances, later adding street styles. Today, he is one of the few specialists in Russia combining both directions at a professional level.
